The carp score is not a forecast with a number stuck on it. It is a weighting of eight things that matter to carp — and you always see which factor pushes you up or down.

What counts

What determines the score

  • Air pressure and how it changes. Falling pressure ahead of a front counts for more than the pressure itself.
  • Wind: strength and direction. A south-westerly on a warm day is something else than the same strength from the north-east.
  • Water temperature. Worked out from the weather of recent days, not just today’s.
  • Cloud, sun and moon phase. Light decides when a carp dares.
  • Rainfall. A shower can help; a day of downpour does not.

  • Tap the score and every factor shows its own contribution — green when it helps, amber when it works against you.
  • A short explanation comes with it: not “pressure 1008 hPa” but “falling, often ahead of a front — favourable”.
  • That way you learn to read the weather yourself. In the end that is worth more than the number.

The score looks further than the forecast. The further ahead, the rougher — and the app tells you so.

  • Today to fifteen days: the normal forecast, by the hour.
  • Sixteen to forty-six days: an outlook based on patterns. No certainty, but a direction.
  • Beyond that: season advice. What does your water do in that month?
  • And the app keeps track. Plan a trip in June and you get an alert as soon as that week falls within the real forecast.

Frequently asked questions

Is the score a guarantee?

No, and saying otherwise would be a lie. It is an estimate of your chances. A score of 80 means the conditions are favourable — not that you will catch. A day scoring 40 can still turn out well.

Why does the score differ per swim?

Because the weather differs per place, and because the app learns when you catch at that particular swim. Two waters ten kilometres apart can have a different score.

How far ahead is the score reliable?

The first five days are the sharpest. After that it becomes a direction rather than a forecast, and the app says so. Beyond forty-six days it is season advice.

What if there is no weather data?

Then the app shows the day score for your region from the European map, with a note that it is a region. And if even that is missing, it says what is going on — not an empty dash.
